Intel will set up an interoperability testing site in China, with local firm Huawei, to ensure its TD-LTE kit will work properly even if nobody seems very interested in using it. Nokia and lens-maker Carl Zeiss agreed an exclusive deal to make high-end camera phones, and said a new top-of-the-range model would be launched this month. Britain will see "significant economic and social benefits" from the introduction of 4G LTE mobile broadband, it has been claimed. New research from Capital Economics, commissioned by Everything Everywhere — the mobile operator formed from T-Mobile and Orange, found that the introduction of 4G mobile networks has the potential to add 0.5 percent — equivalent to £7.5 billion (US $12.1 billion) per annum — to U.K. Gross Domestic Product (GDP). Motorola Mobility reported a GAAP net loss of $86 million for its first quarter as it awaits final approvals to be acquired by Google. Regional U.S. mobile operator Cellcom has announced that its LTE network has gone live in seven areas of northeast and central Wisconsin, with cell sites deployed in Green Bay, Sturgeon Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Wausau and parts of Oconto and Marinette Counties. Cellcom claims that additional base stations will be lit throughout 2012 as the company continues its regional 4G rollout.
