WCAI to Hold a Summer Summit in Conjunction with an FCC Event on Broadband Plan WCAI Share ![]() ![]() ![]()
WCAI will hold a Summer Summit on June 30-July 1 in Herndon, Va., following an FCC event on the U.S. National Broadband Plan. During the first day of the Summit, top operator executives will share operational best practices, discuss the potential WiMAX migration paths to 802.16m and TD-LTE, and address how to "futureproof" today's 4G investments. The Summit will also be the right forum for BRS and EBS licensees to learn what it will take to satisfy FCC substantial service requirements coming due next year and protect their licenses. The first day of the event will be followed by a networking dinner. The second day of the event will feature tours of the Clearwire and DigitalBridge Communications WiMAX facilities followed by a members-only meeting of the WCAI Emerging Markets Committee. The Summit will be held in conjunction with the FCC event designed to educate the industry on the content of the National Broadband Plan. The FCC event will feature Phoebe Yang of the FCC as a speaker and will be co-hosted by the WCAI, the Northern Virginia Technology Council, National Rural Telecommunications Cooperative, and DigitalBridge. Both events will be open to WCAI members at no charge. For more information or to register, click here.

Spectrum bands such as 2.5-2.6, 2.3 and 3.4-3.6 GHz increasingly serve as global bands for broadband wireless services. Globally harmonized spectrum, flexible use, consistent regulatory treatment and interoperability are required for such bands to achieve this potential. To advance this goal, the Wireless Communications Association International (WCAI) created the Global Development Committee (GDC) for service providers. This newsletter advances GDC's work by keeping opinion leaders abreast of worldwide developments. For questions, submission of news items or to become a GDC member company, please contact WCAI Vice President, Communications & Strategy and 4G Global Update Editor Susan Polyakova. Creating
