    Driver shortage may explode beyond truckload

    While the current truck driver shortage is acute and limited primarily to the truckload sector, long-term trends could cause the shortage to explode in the next decade, according to an analysis from American Trucking Associations. "Carriers and fleet executives have begun expressing concern about their ability to identify and hire qualified professional drivers," ATA Chief Economist Bob Costello said, "and with this report, we tried to identify where the impacts were being felt the most, why the shortage is increasingly worrisome and why it has the potential to get worse."More

    Recently, the 8th Annual RoboBusiness Leadership Summit posted record attendance over three warms days in Pittsburgh. Home to Carnegie Mellon University and its famed Robotics Institute, the city is a strong contender for robotics capital of the United States, vying with Boston, last year's RBLS host city, for that title.     Domestic container volume up 15 percent in Midwest, Northeast

    Domestic container volume recorded double digit growth for the fourth quarter in a row according to the Intermodal Association of North America's Intermodal Market Trends & Statistics report. Every IANA region reflected an increase in domestic containers which were responsible for the majority of total third quarter intermodal gains.
