    Certified Playground Safety Inspector Spring Program — Registration is open!
    WRPA
    Certified Playground Safety Inspector course promotes children's right to play and promotes nationally the importance play has to a child's development.

    The CPSI classroom course trains individuals to identify hazards on public playgrounds and playground equipment, and how to apply that knowledge and establish a playground safety program. This two-day course covers the material necessary to pass the Certified Playground Safety Inspector certification exam. Join us from March 3–5 at the Hilton Inn in Bothell. This event typically sells out, so register soon!

    Washington State Parks Real Estate Policy
    WRPA
    The Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission seeks your input on how it manages land. In response to the agency's increased need to generate revenue for operations, the agency is updating its real estate policy to cover three primary areas, as outlined in the attached document:
    1. Providing appropriate opportunities for privately financed development of recreational facilities in existing developed state parks
    2. Leasing undeveloped surplus lands for revenue-generating purposes
    3. Transferring selected lands to other government or tribal jurisdictions

    Today the grizzlies of the Northwest exist mostly in legend. The few fleeting glimpses in the woods are so rare, some suspect there are no bears left in the jagged spine of the Cascade Mountains that splits Washington. That, however, might soon change.

    Bothell will ask lawmakers to help save forest
    The Daily Herald
    Preservation of undeveloped space in Bothell is in doubt after voters rejected a bond measure last month. Bothell now is counting on lawmakers in Olympia and Washington, D.C., to allocate money to save the North Creek Forest.

    In new drainage projects, long-buried urban streams see the light again

    In the past, burying streams created problems, including pollution, which would make its way to waterways. What's more, paving and piping often make flooding worse. In recent years many cities have been undoing the past century's drainage projects, uncovering or "daylighting" buried streams.
