Several Pro-Pet dog, cat foods recalled due to salmonella threat

Pro-Pet LLC is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of Hubbard Life and QC Plus dog food and Hubbard Life and Joy Combo cat food because of possible salmonella contamination. The recalled dry food was produced over a two-day period and distributed in 29 states. No animals have been sickened by the food, the manufacturer reported.

Kriser's, another all-natural pet retailer, coming to Houston

Kriser's, an all-natural pet food store, is opening its first Texas location in Houston. The store is at 5160 Buffalo Speedway in West University. Chicago-based Kriser's opened its first store in Chicago in 2006 and will have 23 stores nationally when the Houston store opens. Kriser's offers pet food, supplies and grooming services.

Pet companies establish presence at Natural Products Expo

About 100 pet product manufacturers are set to showcase their wares March 7 to 9 at the 34th annual Natural Products Expo West in Anaheim, Calif. More than 60,000 people and 2,500 exhibitors are expected to fill Anaheim Convention Center for one of the largest shows in the natural products industry. The 2013 show broke records with more than 63,000 industry members and 2,428 exhibiting companies.
