Wisconsin county considers ban on live exotic animals

Officials in Dane County, Wisc., issued an amendment to the county code of ordinances prohibiting the possession and sale of exotic animals, although the amendment does not provide a specific list of such animals. The proposal has been referred to four additional committees and awaits further action. PIJAC advises pet owners and pet businesses in the county to contact their local government representatives with concerns or questions immediately. More

On March 3, United Airlines and its subsidiaries will change the way they transport pets. Although the airline's fees for transporting animals are in line with what other carriers charge, the change could end up costing pet owners thousands of dollars. Pets now will be transported as cargo rather than checked luggage, and some countries require travelers to pay a third party to ship cargo. And that's where the real cost escalates. More
