By Kevin Plazak
The Stark family, from the TV show "Game of Thrones", has a popular saying: "Winter is coming." It means that times will be hard and lean for a while. When it comes to fish sales, the opposite is true for pet stores: "Summer is coming." The challenge of summer sunshine and good weather is that it really slows the sales of fish. People are busy outside rather than looking at their fish tank. However, there are options to improve your summer sales.

Reuters via Business Insider
Manufacturers of cannabis-infused products promoted as having health benefits for both people and pets have received warning letters their claims were untested and must be modified, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration said. Intangibles aside, the preliminary figures for this year's Global Pet Expo, which occurred March 4-6 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida, are looking pretty good — record-setting good.

DogVacay launches spinoff service for cat-sitting
LA Biz
"Dogs and cats living together — mass hysteria!" Dr. Peter Venkman may have viewed the co-mingling of domesticated species as a sign of the end times, but DogVacay doesn't, recently launching a spinoff called CatVacay. Many of the Santa Monica, California, startup's 20,000 pet sitters have already been watching cats through the platform — as well as guinea pigs, chickens, a rat and even a snake — but as all cat owners know, felines are a fickle species, so CatVacay's service is slightly different from that of its parent company.
