20th Annual America's Family Pet Expo Plays Host to Thousands of Animal Lovers

America’s Family Pet Expo, produced by World Wide Pet Industry Association, Inc® (WWPIA) and presented by Iams Pet Foods, drew a crowd of over 36,826 attendees to the OC Fair & Event Center in Costa Mesa, Calif., April 17 -19. Now in its 20th year, the show continues to be a huge attraction for pet lovers in Southern California. Despite effects of a sluggish economy, the Pet Expo exceeded organizers’ expectations with an attendance increase of over 5.7 percent from last year, providing further evidence that family-friendly entertainment options are popular during weak economic times. Banks that make SBA-backed loans have historically been able to sell the guaranteed portion of these loans into the secondary market, freeing up their balance sheets to make new loans. Summers says U.S. Economic Free Fall has Ended

The sense of "unremitting free fall" in the U.S. economy has ended and the picture is no longer completely negative, but rather mixed, President Barack Obama's economic adviser Lawrence Summers said. "Six or eight weeks ago, there were no positive statistics to be found anywhere. The economy felt like it was falling vertically. Today, the picture is much more mixed," Summers said. EPA Considers More Restrictions of Flea, Tick Pet Products

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency reported April 16 that it is intensifying its evaluation of whether further restrictions on the use of spot-on pesticide products for flea and tick control products are necessary to better protect pets.
