New cancer treatment center for pets opens in Malvern, Pennsylvania
The first comprehensive veterinary cancer center in the nation has opened in Malvern, Pennsylvania. "We have but all disciplines from medical oncology to dynastic imaging to surgical oncology to radiation oncology and integrated medicine all under one roof in a free standing building next to a major hospital," said Joseph Wakim, co-founder and CEO of the Mid-Atlantic Veterinary Cancer Center. "This is the way of the future. We're able to treat and advance the treatment of cancer in small animals, cats and dogs."

More changes in store at Backer's Total Pet Expo

H.H. Backer Associates is sprucing up its annual Backer's Total Pet Expo by adding a smartphone app, a Secret Shopper contest and other attractions. The changes to the pet products trade show follow a revamped 2013 exhibition that drew positive reviews from attendees. The next Backer's Total Pet Expo is scheduled for Sept. 19 to 21 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in suburban Chicago.

Attending trade shows and other events to find the newest, as well as unique, pet products is a must for retailers, but traveling all across the country can get super expensive very quickly. It is a driving force behind the new event, PetLooks, a small trade show that hopes to move around the country putting manufacturers in the retailer's backyard.

Short crisp and to the point, postcards are one of the best ways to market most any kind of product or service. Closing sales isn't the priority for their short format. Postcards are cheap, easy, hard-working marketing tools. What's a client worth to you each year? Here's a proposition: Suppose you sent them a postcard every two weeks — or 26 postcards a year. Your cost? At $1 each, that's $26 for a full year — to generate calls and build a relationship of loyalty, awareness and trust. Is it worth $26 per prospect to get them to call you?
