Your business brand brings customers in and helps bring them back. Pet businesses, both large and small, are scrambling for a competitive edge. Everybody needs to create the best possible perception about who they are in the minds of the consumer for a profitable business. The term "brand" can cause confusion. People's first impression is often the logo or image of a company that is used on signage, business cards and letterheads. But a brand goes much further than a "visual identity," it is the personality of a company or service.

Growing pet DNA industry identifies poop offenders

As winter turned to spring at the Wau-Lin-Cree Apartments, the dog piles revealed themselves, lumps of unscooped doo just waiting to greet the sole of a sneaker. Enough tenants complained to spur property manager Karen Peevy to action. A dog's DNA doesn't lie. With this in mind, Peevy turned to the Internet to confirm that, indeed, CSI-style forensics could match a mound of poop to the critter that deposited it.

Cracking this code has long been considered to be the inevitable watershed moment when Internet sales — presumably led by — would start posing a significant threat to pet specialty stores across the country. Much to pet retailers' dismay, that day is quickly approaching as has continued to expand its same-day delivery service under AmazonFresh.
