SuperZoo approaches, registration opens online
Pet Product News is open for business and the website's countdown ticker reminds those in the pet industry that they have a little more than two months before SuperZoo, one of the pet industry's main trade shows, gets underway. Pet retailers from across the U.S. and an international contingent, too, will begin funneling through the doors at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas on July 22, with those same doors closing at 3 p.m. on Thursday, July 24.

Bravo issues nationwide recall of pet food for dogs and cats

Bravo! Pet Food issued a nationwide recall of select lots of some of its products because they might have the potential to be contaminated with a strain of the listeria bacteria. This recall stems from the Food and Drug Administration passing along the findings of an independent lab that detected listeria in samples of Bravo products.

'Hero cat' throws out 1st pitch

A cat that became famous for saving a central California boy from a dog attack "threw" the first pitch at a recent Bakersfield Blaze baseball game. The cat, named Tara, was captured on a security camera May 13 when she pounced on a dog that attacked her 4-year-old human, Jeremy Triantafilo. The video, which has garnered 21 million views on YouTube, shows the dog biting and attempting to drag the boy. Within seconds, Tara leaps out and chases the canine away.
