Frequent flier e-miles: Incentivize your auto-replies
By Julie Bernhard

Of course, it serves its purpose — but have you ever thought it could even do your job while you are gone? While the standard auto-response — "I am currently out of the office until Monday, July 22, and will respond to your message upon my return." — delivers the message, it also turns on the snooze button.

Bows, bling and things
Pet Business
Carol Visser writes, "Having had sporting and herding breeds all my life, I always thought bows, bandanas and other cutesy accessories were, well, a little over the top. Dogs do not care if they have bling or not, I thought, they just want dinner for the most part. I couldn't have been more wrong. After years of watching dogs leave various grooming salons, I finally figured out what is really going on with bows, bandannas and all the other fashionable accessories with which we see fit to furnish our dogs."

The North Carolina House passed legislation that would give rescue workers explicit permission to break into cars to remove dogs and other animals from hot cars. The amended animal shelter bill, which now goes to the state Senate, would allow animal control officers, law enforcement officers, firefighters and other rescue workers to enter a vehicle "by any reasonable means" when they suspect an animal is at risk because of heat, cold, inadequate ventilation or other circumstances.
