Concern grows over pet pills and products
Oregon State University via
Scientists have long been aware of the potential environment impacts that stem from the use and disposal of the array of products people use to keep themselves healthy, clean and smelling nice. Now a new concern is emerging — improper disposal of pet care products and pills. Dog shampoos, heartworm medicine, flea and tick sprays, and a plethora of prescription and over-the-counter medicines increasingly are finding their way into landfills and waterways, where they can threaten the health of local watersheds.

Financial planning for pets is a high priority for some owners
Americans love their pets so much that millions are willing to put their money where their pets are. Nearly 20 percent of respondents to a recent survey by Securian Financial Group said they engaged in financial planning for their pets' care. This planning included drawing up pet protection agreements, naming pets in their wills, granting powers of attorney over their pets and drafting letters of instruction with details on what to do with their animals after their human owners pass on.

Going vertical: Merchandising at half the price
By Kevin Plazak
Humans are predators. Our eyes are in front like a lion or a wolf, and we search from side to side. We also form a search image of our "prey" like predators do. Customers who are searching for a product in your store have an image in their mind of what they are "hunting." They walk through your store scanning from side to side searching for their "prey." While scanning, they see what you have put at their eye level. Since about two-thirds of a store's merchandise is below eye level, you benefit by merchandising in a manner that allows the customer search below what is natural for them while not changing their nature.
