Wisconsin proposes dog seller regulations

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection has proposed a rulemaking to license and regulate those who breed and sell dogs, as well as shelters and animal control facilities. The rulemaking is being proposed as a result of legislation that was passed in 2009, which directed the Department to adopt implementing regulations. The Department has scheduled hearings to be held across the state on several different dates, and will accept public comments until Friday, Oct. 8, 2010. More

The Food and Drug Administration is holding a public workshop on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. to present the beta-release of the electronic submission tool eSubmitter. Developed by the Center for Veterinary Medicine, eSubmitter is a tool for the regulated animal health industry to submit new animal drug information electronically to CVM's Office of New Animal Drug Evaluation. Registration is required for this workshop, and there is no fee. More

Entest BioMedical Inc. plans to get its immunotherapeutic cancer vaccine for dogs, ImenVax, on the market within 12 months, the La Mesa, Calif., company said during a blogcast. The vaccine would mark Entest BioMedical's entry into the veterinary market. Entest BioMedical recently adopted a "veterinary first" approach with its research and products.
