Wisconsin county considering ban on possession, sale of exotic animals

Earlier this year, the Dane County, Wisc., Board of Supervisors proposed an amendment to the County Code of Ordinances prohibiting the possession and sale of exotic animals. The ordinance amendment did not provide a specific list of these animals. The proposal was referred to several committees of the Board of Supervisors, however in late February it was tabled for "further study." Now, the Board's Transportation & Public Works Committee has decided to hear the proposal on Tuesday, Oct. 9. More

Aquarium Life Support Systems, a distributor of aquarium and pond products to independent fish stores and pond supply retailers, has formed a new industry trade group, AquaLife Dealers Lounge. The group will cater exclusively to independent brick-and-mortar stores that are generally owner-operated, said executive director John Tullock, a 25-year veteran of the aquarium industry. He hopes that at least 600 stores will join by year's end. More
