Phillips Feed and Pet Supply of Easton, Penn., reported that it has acquired Super-Dog Pet Food Co. of Leola, Penn., a move that will help the new company to "aggressively support" the independent pet channel. The company will operate under the direction of CEO Blaine Phillips and COO Fred Schober, who was previously head of Super-Dog Pet Food. More

Pet sales restricted in El Paso

The El Paso City Council passed an ordinance on Tuesday of last week that will place certain restrictions on the sale of dogs and cats in El Paso, Texas. The ordinance, introduced in July, originally sought to prohibit the sale of all cats and dogs in an effort to reduce the number of animals euthanized in shelters. More

Walmart rolls out upcycled pet products

Not all pets are fortunate enough to poach an old sheepskin rug, so there is demand for dog beds, scratching posts, and kitty litter pans and liners. Now Walmart will sell these supplies, along with other products, starting this month through a partnership with Worldwise. The new retail line will the end result of a closed-loop system that takes waste from Walmart's stores and "upcycles" them into new pet products that retail in Walmart stores' pet departments. More
