Study finds most pet car safety restraints unsafe

While many pet car restraint manufacturers claim to test their products, without uniform test standards and protocols, these claims cannot be substantiated. Recognizing the severity of this issue, Subaru of America, Inc. teamed up with the Center for Pet Safety, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit research and advocacy organization dedicated to consumer and companion animal safety, to conduct similar crash tests. The CPS is actively working toward publishing a harness standard later this year.

DogVacay looks to take a bigger bit of the $11 billion pet care industry

In America, where there are more dogs than children, pet care is estimated to be an $11 billion industry. But given the market's fragmentation, DogVacay cofounder and CEO Aaron Hirschhorn is hoping to capture more marketshare. The company announced Thursday it has raised a $15 million Series B round led by Foundation Capital — bringing the total raised to $22 million — to build out customer service, engineering, and product management.
