SPCA says more dog owners are giving up on their Chihuahuas

The San Francisco Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has seen a jump in the number of Chihuahuas in its care recently due to tough economic times and an increase in the dogs' popularity, a spokeswoman said. The organization has seen about a 4 percent increase in the number of Chihuahuas it has received since July, SF/SPCA spokeswoman Tina Ahn said. More

A bill approved Thursday by a U.S. Senate committee would ban the importing of large constrictors like the Burmese pythons that have invaded South Florida. The measure was sponsored by Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla. In addition to Burmese pythons, it lists reticulated pythons, two types of
African pythons, boa constrictors and three species of anaconda, the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported.

For the non-techies among you, a widget is a small cluster of computer code that can be copied onto Web pages. Widgets come in many shapes and with many functions, but this one will basically allow bloggers or pet stores to feature constantly up-to-date information supplied by the FDA on their own site.
