She petitioned to receive permission for herself and Jessie Ellsworth, who was president of the Chicago and Cook County Dental Assistants Association, to attend the 1923 American Dental Association convention in Cleveland.

A true story: Exposed needles and exposed eyes changes a dental patient's sight forever
Support Clean Dentistry blog
For Jenn it was just another day, squeezing in a root canal between work and home duties. She was sitting in the chair thinking about grocery lists and errands to run, watching the clinicians do their job through the noise of a drill and banter of the task. After the dentist numbed her he erred on so many levels: He passed the syringe over her face rather that her chest. The needle was not recapped before passing. But what was the worst decision that was made that day? No one at the dental office had provided Jenn with safety glasses.

Are you terrified to look for a dental job?
Dentistry IQ
My dentist is 70 and still going strong, says Lisa Newburger, LISWS. (Hallelujah!) Talk about job security. He hasn't even started thinking about succession planning, or at least he hasn't told me what he's thinking. I've worked for this dentist for the past 23 years. The writing is on the wall. What I'm really curious about is … how often does a dentist die while in the office? OK, that's a little morbid, but a girl does wonder.
