Antibiotics losing effectiveness around the globe

In its recent report, "Antimicrobial Resistance: Global Report on Surveillance," the World Health Organization cautions about the overwhelming consequences of antibiotics losing their effectiveness to fight disease, as the risk of diseases that have been controlled could surface again. Of the data collected by the WHO, the most disturbing is the conclusion that there is global resistance to the "last resort" antibiotics used against life-threatening infections that are caused by Klebsiella pneumonia, a common intestinal bacterium.

Study: Dentists help in fight against obesity

The fight against obesity in the United States may have some unexpected allies — dentists. New research by the Yale School of Public Health has found that counties with a higher number of dentists per capita have strikingly lower rates of obesity than their peers, even within the same state.

Domestic verbal and physical violence linked to poor dental health
Medical Daily
Verbal and physical abuse in the home has been linked to poor dental health, and dentists believe noxious behaviors are taking over some families' lives and their health is paying for it. Researchers from New York University published a study in the Journal of the American Dental Association that found parents who have worse oral health had a hostile living situation with their partners at home.

Association between widely used depression drug and dental implant failure

The International and American Associations for Dental Research have published a paper titled "SSRIs and the Risk of Osseointegrated Implant Failure - A Cohort Study." Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors, the most widely used drugs for the treatment of depression, have been reported to reduce bone formation and increase the risk of bone fracture.
