The journal ranks 19 of 142 in psychiatry journals; 8 of 77 in psychology journals; 5 of 121 for psychology clinical journals, and 15 of 139 for psychiatry social science journals. A comprehensive review of existing studies has led the European Psychiatric Association to issue new guidelines to promote exercise as a key adjunctive treatment for mental health conditions. The meta-review led the team of scientists to suggest that a regime of structured exercise should be added to standard medication and psychotherapy. The study appears in the journal European Psychiatry.

In the recent year we have seen some tragic consequences of depression, so finding a way to combat it on a global level is of great significance. Researchers at MIT found a way to use neural networks to recognize speech patterns in people that are indicative in depression.

Women in late pregnancy during darker months of the year may have a greater risk of developing postpartum depression once their babies are born. This is consistent with what is known about the relationship between exposure to natural light and depression among adults in the general population. New findings published in the Journal of Behavioral Medicine should lead clinicians to encourage at-risk women to increase their exposure to natural daylight and vitamin D.

The Child Behavior Checklist has demonstrated predictive power for identifying children with subsyndromal symptoms at risk for major depressive disorder, according to a study published in The Journal of Pediatrics. Participants in this study were originally recruited to take part in a longitudinal study of youth with and without attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, as well as their immediate family, for a 10-year follow-up.
