ALUR combines the simple elegance of glass with the precision of aluminum. ALUR glass walls transform what was once hidden into an inspiration of form and function, while allowing natural light to cascade in. Architectural details are accentuated. Mechanical components are beautifully concealed. Finally, a system that is truly alluring.

The line "we got one" comes from the 1984 film Ghostbusters. I chose this as the title of this article after reading another article about the world’s first film studio, hence a connection to film.

Jefferson, a design-build contractor? In Jack McLaughlin&'s book, Jefferson and Monticello, he writes: "Although there were no architects in the modern sense of the word — those who professionally designed buildings — in colonial Virginia, the more substantial plantation homes were constructed by professionals."

For recent architecture school graduates setting off on their careers for the first time, being referred to by the traditional title of "intern" can feel a little trivializing — as a full-time employee with a completed degree and real responsibilities, the title does little to capture a new hire’s true role within the firm.
Cognizant of this discrepancy, the AIA is now taking steps to eliminate the use of "intern," a term grandfathered in from the days of architectural apprenticeships and more linear paths through the architectural profession.

The AIA released a statement outlining eight key principles on how architects can help mitigate and combat the effects of climate change, while calling upon policymakers to continue incentivizing carbon-neutral goals for the AEC industry.
"Architecture and design can mitigate climate impact while simultaneously reducing operating costs for building owners," said AIA president Thomas Vonier, FAIA, in the release. "We need the federal government to keep and even expand incentives that are already producing major advances in energy efficient design and cutting the carbon footprint of buildings."

The Alexandria Library, which opened in 2002, is an important cultural center for much of Egypt — so much so that during Arab Spring, young citizens rallied around the building to protect it and its contents from looting.
The library's shape is inspired by the ancient Alexandrian lighthouse, and its carved stone exterior harkens to Egyptian hieroglyphics — details which make it both a monumental symbol of knowledge and modern progress. So it might be surprising that the building was designed not by Egyptians, but by the founding partners of Snøhetta, the Norway-headquartered architecture firm.

It’s a multimillion-dollar New Jersey mansion with over-the-top features to match — but no buyer has taken the bait.
That's why the Garden State's priciest listing — a gated 15-acre estate in Morristown whose features include an 80,000-gallon swimming pool, a 30,000-square-foot custom-built home and landscaping with over 100 imported trees — has just lowered its asking price to $39 million.
The glitzy property originally asked $45 million when it hit the market last October. That means a discount of 13.33 percent.

Cast your eye on almost any city landscape in northern New Jersey and chances are you'll see a church steeple pointing skyward.
Often they are the tallest, oldest and most beautiful structures in any given town and a focal point of a community's pride and faith.
While faith endures, buildings sometimes do not. Nor do congregations always last. People grow older, the next generation moves away and buildings get left behind.
At times, however, there are people who do what they can to try to save these houses of worship, some of which date to before the American Revolution.
