FAA: Yes, You Can Serialize and Mark That Part
From Jan. 16: A maintenance provider can restore a serial number to a part received with that information missing or illegible, and it can assign and add a serial number to a part not originally serialized, the FAA told ARSA.

In Response to ARSA Protest, FAA Reverses Maintenance Duty Time Legal Interpretation
From Jan. 9: In a major victory for the aviation industry, on Dec. 26, 2012, the Federal Aviation Administration withdrew its faulty legal interpretation of maintenance duty time limitations prescribed in Title 14 Code of Federal Regulations (14 CFR) section 121.377.

FAA Confirms Capability Is the Key

FAA Updates Form 8130-3
From Aug. 14: The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) recently announced a revised FAA Form 8130-3, used for domestic airworthiness approval of new products and articles; approval for return to service of altered aircraft parts; and export airworthiness approvals of aircraft engines, propellers, or articles. The FAA revised the form as part of harmonization efforts with other civil aviation authorities to ease the identification and traceability of goods between the U.S. and other countries.

Lift the Ban
From April 17: The FAA's inability to certificate new part 145 foreign repair stations is preventing U.S. companies from accessing international markets and serving customers, stifling growth in the industry. The prohibition on certification is the perfect example of the detrimental impact that bad legislation can have on our industry. The FAA must be permitted to once again certificate new foreign repair stations.

ARSA Cautions Congress on Sequestration
From Feb. 27: With the looming threat of sequestration inching closer to reality, ARSA cautioned Congress on the potential dangers the process could have for the maintenance industry. Noting the likely delays to certification and operations, ARSA Vice President of Legislative Affairs Daniel Fisher urged lawmakers to avoid the mandatory budget cuts.
