Lahood raps USA Today's maintenance investigation

Department of Transportation Secretary Ray Lahood recently came out swinging against a USA Today report that alleged that 65,000 airline flights over the last six years occurred in aircraft that were not properly maintained. The newspaper said the findings surfaced after a six-month investigation into maintenance practices by the airlines and oversight by the FAA found both lacking. More

The Oregon Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has recognized Erickson as a SHARP employer. The Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP), recognized nationwide, acknowledges exceptional companies whose safety and health management programs are determined to be comprehensive and effective to the extent that they are granted a limited exemption from programmed inspections. Singapore's SIA Engineering recently opened the first Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) hangar in the world to offer commercial maintenance services for the Airbus A380 aircraft there. At the opening of the A380 hangar, Singapore's Minister in Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Transport, Lim Hwee Hua said that as a gateway to Asia, Singapore is well- positioned to ride the wave of aviation expansion. Comair avoids maintenance fines past six year

Federal Aviation Administration records show that, of 25 U.S. airlines, Comair was one of only two airlines not to be fined by the FAA for maintenance issues since 2003. The other airline was Republic. More
