NORAD Getting Ready to Track Santa

North Pole - A holiday tradition continues this year as NORAD and Google team-up again to track Santa's journey around the world on Christmas Eve. NORAD first began to track Santa in 1955 when a misprinted advertisement in a Sears & Roebuck catalogue mistakenly led callers expecting a Santa-hotline to the NORAD commander-in-chief's telephone.

Embracing the spirit of the season, NORAD offered callers its sleigh-location updates and, ever since, has tracked Santa's whereabouts each year on Christmas Eve. In 2007, Google officially partnered with NORAD to display his location in Google Earth and Maps. More
