An additional 60 days was given to the Justice Department to respond to a court order that delayed an Obama administration rule to expand employee eligibility for overtime compensation.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit granted additional time to the department, which filed the request Feb. 22 and has until May 1 to file a brief in the case (Nevada v. DOL, 5th Cir., No. 16-41606, extension granted 2/22/17).

More than half (59 percent) of homeowners are planning to spend money on home improvement projects in 2017, according to the fourth annual survey by LightStream, the online lending division of SunTrust Banks, Inc.
Notably, a shift is occurring on both a regional and multi-generational level as homeowners project higher average spending on renovations this year. The LightStream survey was conducted online by Harris Poll in January 2017.

It's a story that received national headlines. On June 5, 2013, equipment operator Sean Benschop maneuvered an 18-ton excavator toward a four-story brick building slated for demolition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But in part because of Behschop's failure to follow safe demolition practices, an unsupported wall gave way and crashed down onto an adjacent one-story Salvation Army Store. Six people in the store died and another 13 were injured. Toxicology reports showed evidence of marijuana and codeine in Benschop's blood.
