The EPA/Energy Star Storm Window Standard is complete and will be released in August of 2018. Any remaining comments on this Final Draft, Version 1.0 specification may be submitted to EPA at windows@energystar.gov no later than July 30. EPA will post all comments to the ENERGY STAR Product Development website. EPA anticipates releasing the final version of the specification in August of 2018 with an immediate effective date.

Kadence Jimenez, a mother of three, was working a minimum-wage job at an assisted living facility for five years when she enrolled in a free pre-apprenticeship program at Oregon Tradeswomen, a nonprofit that trains and prepares women to work in construction and other trades.

Construction costs accelerated again in June, with steep price increases for a range of building and road construction materials as tariffs against foreign goods come into effect, according to an analysis of new labor department data conducted by the Associated General Contractors of America. The producer price index for aluminum mill shapes jumped by 20 percent between June 2017 and June 2018, reports AGC chief economist Ken Simonson; copper and brass mill shapes saw an increase of 17.4 percent during this period, while steel mill products rose 12.3 percent.

Prices for many materials used in glass and glazing manufacturing climbed again in June, according to the latest Producer Price Index from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The monthly PPI for flat glass in the commodity category grew 0.7 percent from the previous month, and is up 3.2 percent from June 2017. According to the BLS, the commodity classification “organizes products and services by similarity or material composition, regardless of the industry classification of the producing establishment.”
