With the Department of Labor Overtime Rule scheduled to go in effect Dec. 1, a new bill was recently introduced in Congress to slow down the ruling announced in May.
Four House Democrats - Reps. Kurt Schrader, Oregon; Jim Cooper, Tennessee; Henry Cuellar, Texas; and Collin Peterson, Minnesota - introduced The Overtime Reform and Enhancement Act, which gives small businesses, non profits and universities more time to comply with the final overtime rule.

The U.S. Department of Labor's Wage and Hour Division recently disclosed the details of its final revised regulations relating to certain "white collar" salary exemptions under the federal Fair Labor Standards Act. In brief, the minimum salary threshold for exempt employees is increasing to $47,476 annually, up from $23,660 per year. These new rules become effective Dec. 1. Unless these changes are postponed, by that time you must have done what is necessary to comply.
