The House passed a GOP-backed bill recently to delay the Obama administration's controversial overtime rule from taking effect Dec. 1.
The Regulatory Relief for Small Businesses, Schools and Nonprofits Act passed mostly along party lines by a vote of 246-177, delaying for six months the rule that makes 4.2 million Americans eligible for overtime pay.

"Recently, I outlined a few popular tax breaks that are set to expire at the end of 2016. In addition to ones mentioned previously, a handful of credits aimed at promoting energy-efficient property are scheduled to expire this year as well.
Congress may take action on these tax credits when they return for a lame-duck session after the November elections, but many believe that the era of energy tax incentives is coming to an end. Even if there are some last minute, stop-gap extensions to these credits, the measure would likely just delay their expiration for a year or two."
