Sunroc announces acquisition of J.K. Merrill & Sons

Sunroc, a subsidiary of Clyde Companies, has announced the finalization of their asset acquisition of Pocatello-based company, J.K. Merrill & Sons. J.K. Merrill's assets will facilitate aggregate expansion in the Eastern Idaho region of Sunroc. J.K. Merrill & Sons will rebrand and operate under the Depatco name.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, rising energy prices and supply chain issues, among other woes, inflation has steadily increased over the past two years. This has forced the U.S. Federal Reserve to increase interest rates aggressively to slow the economy down. As of October 2022, the U.S. inflation rate sat at 7.7%, which is down from June's high of 9.1%, but much higher than October’s 2020 rate of 1.2%.

First Solar Inc. plans to invest $1.1 billion to establish a photovoltaic solar module manufacturing facility in Lawrence County, creating over 700 new jobs in North Alabama.
