Lumber prices — what's happening?
MPA Magazine
From Feb. 2: Lumber, one of the hottest commodities on the planet, is still short in supply, but prices are tumbling.
Lumber futures fell to $1,053 per thousand board feet on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange for the seventh day in a row on Tuesday. As Bloomberg reported, the cool-off period – the longest since July – signals that sky-high costs and supply constraints will continue to delay projects and may even drive down demand.

As of 15th June 2022, all new and replacement windows installed will need to be fitted with trickle vents in line with the new building regulations.
Double Glazing Blogger
From Oct. 19: This building regulation update specifically focuses on ensuring adequate ventilation in order to improve thermal comfort for occupants. This is achieved through the installation of appropriate 'trickle vents' in windows and doors that allow a controlled airflow into the building. The amount of airflow can be increased or decreased depending on the season and the level of occupation, and the building's ventilation system can be controlled to maintain optimum conditions. By ensuring adequate ventilation, the building regulations aim to improve the thermal comfort of occupants and reduce the risk of health problems associated with poor indoor air quality.
Trickle vents have been debated in the U.S. for years. Some codes recommend them in walls to help achieve required 7 air exchanges per hour. High rise hotels use them to equalize the pressures of elevators etc. It's now a required feature in the UK. Maybe it's time to reconsider here? (Picture courtesy Titon.com)

How higher rents, rising values will drive multifamily construction in 2022
Construction Dive
From Jan. 12: While the COVID-19 pandemic has hammered many areas of commercial real estate, the multifamily sector has emerged as a clear winner.
Although apartment rents plummeted in the early months of the pandemic, they quickly recovered in early 2021. Master the 3-R's in Selling.
(Turning Resentment into Reward)
From April 20: Too often, businesses don't take advantage of what looks like a small job and build it into a big job. They're afraid if they push too hard on an "upsell", they will turn off the
prospect or lose the sale completely.
However, rather than being a turn-off, it may be surprising to learn how often up-selling can relieve the prospect from the torment of the purchase decision. No one wants to waste
money, or make a needless purchase or make the wrong one and have to do it again later.
And, while Repair invites price haggling; with Reward price can become a non-issue.
