2015 CCA Golf Tournament One Month Away
Canadian Carwash Association
There is still time to practice your putt and be in tip-top form for September's CCA golf tournament! Members of the CCA will come together on September 15th at the Glendale Golf and Country Club in Hamilton, Ontario for a day of golf and networking. Carwash operators and industry suppliers will rub shoulders throughout the day on the green and in the evening at the networking dinner. The dinner will include raffle prizes, with proceeds going to support Trout Unlimited Canada's Yellow Fish Road program.

The e Canadian Carwash Association (CCA) offers its membership the Carwash Toolkit™: Getting Started, a guide for those looking to build a new carwash from the ground up or purchase an existing carwash operation. The 31-page document provides an overview of the Canadian industry, what is required for a site, cost estimates and more.

The document is equally valuable for existing carwash operators to help in evaluating their own sites against best practices. The toolkit explores the various types of carwashes, general tips for best results, evaluating costs, building a business plan and more. Join the International Carwash Association's WaterSavers Alliance
Canadian Carwash Association
The Canadian Carwash Association (CCA) is a part of the growing WaterSavers® Alliance program, an initiative of the International Carwash Association (ICA). Members of the CCA can add their carwash to this environmental recognition program if they implement water management best practices and meet other water conservation requirements. Video: Stage 3 water conservation and washing cars

OpenRoad Auto Group, B.C.'s largest volume dealer group, is going above and beyond the current Stage 3 water restrictions to greatly limit their water use by reducing the number of cars washed at all 17 Metro Vancouver dealerships by more than 90 per cent.

ICA announces ongoing support of Grace For Vets program

Beginning this fall, International Carwash Association will sponsor Grace For Vets and provide ongoing support for the worldwide Veterans Day Free Car Wash Program. The ICA, in conjunction with a volunteer board, will continue program founder Mike Mountz's efforts in holding a one day event on Veterans Day where car wash operators offer free car washes to military veterans and active duty personnel. Started in 2004, the event has grown to include more than 2,800 car wash locations in four countries. Grace for Vets washed more than 230,000 cars for free during the 2014 event.

Unique needs drive family carwash business

Small business body calls Ontario pension plan a 'job-killer'

John Marsh says Ontario's proposed mandatory retirement savings plan will take $400,000 out of his company’s pocket over the next 15 years and provide almost no benefit to his employees. "I have to be opposed because this is a job-killer," said Marsh, president of medical office supplier Elecompack Systems Inc. of Mississauga. "I'm not just talking about our company. Either we have to lay off people or I'm considering a moratorium on pay raises for two years."

Around the Industry: August 2015

In January the International Carwash Association (ICA) provided an update on the latest work of ICA's operator-led working group that focused on issues related to new vehicle technologies, according to an ICA press release. The issues highlighted in the update include: external door lock keypads that can be accidentally engaged, transmissions that don't allow vehicles to remain in neutral without the engine running and vehicle sensors which engage the brakes when an object is near.
