U.S. President Donald Trump has "messed up the clock" on getting the renegotiated NAFTA deal ratified, and it may now die in its current form, says former U.S. Ambassador to Canada Bruce Heyman.
In an interview on CTV's Question Period, Heyman said that the deal in its current form is dead.

In a brief email statement, PSA said that "it has finalized an agreement" to acquire the Halterm terminal in Halifax from Australian-based Macquarie Infrastructure Partners.

For this week, total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 535,089 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.0 percent compared with the same week last year.
Total carloads for the week ending May 4 were 268,559 carloads, up 1.0 percent compared with the same week in 2018, while U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 266,530 containers and trailers, down 4.9 percent compared to 2018.

Berkshire Hathway chairman and CEO Warren Buffett said he would be willing to consider some form of precision scheduled railroading (PSR) for western U.S. railroad BNSF, although he didn't say when or even if BNSF would eventually adopt the operating model. The Alberta government will incur a financial penalty if it goes ahead with Premier Jason Kenney's pledge to cancel $3.7-billion worth of crude-by-rail contracts, the head of Canada's largest railway said Wednesday.

Ontario will look at raising speed limits on provincial highways, with the transportation minister musing that those roads can safely handle traffic at 120 kilometres an hour.
Jeff Yurek said Wednesday that he will announce speed limit consultations, and signalled that the province will consider raising the maximum from its current 100 kilometres an hour.

Whenever an airplane crash occurs, there’s wild speculation concerning who and what to blame, and such is the case in the instances of downed Boeing 737 Max 8s. The company has now come forward admitting to a safety feature malfunction that could have caused the high-profile, high-fatality crashes. 737 Max 8 software includes an alert system that informs pilots about problems and malfunctions in-flight. The problem is that an important alert light feature was sold to Boeing customers as "optional."

The International Air Transport Association (IATA) released data for global air freight markets showing that demand, measured in freight tonne kilometers (FTKs), increased 0.1 percent in March 2019, compared to the same period in 2018. While this is a significant improvement on the 4.9 percent contraction in February, in seasonally adjusted terms, demand is still down 1.5 percent over the past year.

Cargojet Inc. broke even for its most recent quarter compared with a profit of $4.5 million a year ago as its revenue grew by 11.3 per cent.
