Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum archivist and Brock University history and Canadian studies professor Michelle Vosburgh explained the canal, now in its fourth iteration, opened up the Canadian interior to shipping and dramatically changed the course of Canada’s economy in the nation's centre.
