Children looking to soar into the skies now have a chance to do just that as the COPA for Kids aviation program will be held at the Melfort Airport on June 11.
Before stepping into a plane, children will have a lesson on all the functionalities of a plane before fastening their seatbelts. "We take kids eight years of age to 17 years of age up for a discovery flight in airplanes," said Bruce Schell.

When her husband got his pilot's license, Anita Thomas feared she'd lose him to his new hobby. She had a terrible fear of heights and had little interest in climbing into the cockpit of a small plane and joining him on his flights.
Yet she knew her fear was irrational. So one day, back in 2007, Thomas summoned up the courage to join her husband on one of his flights.

When diehard aircraft fans hear there's going to be a Stemme at their airport, they make sure they are there to see it.
That's because a Stemme powerglider is one of the most exclusive passenger aircraft available to private citizens. It seats only two and provides a flying experience unlike any other.
And a long-time Kelowna resident has one parked at the Kelowna International Airport.

Early on in every pilot's lifetime there's a moment when he or she is faced with the yin and yang of flying alone. Viewing the majesty of the sun as it disappears below the horizon from a vantage point that no one else shares is a reason many of us learned to fly. Then there are moments — such as watching chunky walls of cumulonimbus build around us faster than our airplanes can climb — when we alone must find the solution. Heady stuff.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of my work revolves around the ability to take others aloft in a bright yellow and black Reimagined Cessna 152.
The airplane is pretty much a stock C-152, not much different than those you've probably logged time in. What separates the airplane I fly from the one you flew is the complete refurbishment of the Reimagined C-152 at the Aviat facility in Afton, Wyoming.
Yes, it's true. Everything actually works in the Reimagined I fly.

Icon Aircraft's announcement of a sharp production cut and layoffs of 60 full-time workers comes at crucial time for the California startup. With deliveries anticipated to be in full swing by now, the company instead is shifting its delivery schedule by about a year as it continues to burn through its cash reserves. Even as grass strips go, this one is spartan: It's 2,350 feet long, and the markings are minimal. The body of an old Ercoupe, painted blaze orange, rests on a swivel to serve as the wind indicator. "It's a challenging runway for the first time to land on," admits Rob Bach, who for many years arrived in a 1928 Travel Air. "But it has a wonderful feeling. From the north you come over trees and a gully. It creates a bit of an optical illusion as the hill comes up."

Frequent photo contributor Gary Lanthrum sent in these photos, explaining: "A group of Maule pilots met at AJ Eisenberg Airport on Whidbey Island in Washington state for a tour of the Naval Air Station nearby. One of the pilots is also a Lieutenant Commander on the base and organized the tour.
"After that we flew to several sweet little airports tucked away in the Cascades, or in the farming areas below the mountains."
