Canadian pilots came in droves to the AIG, Magnes & COPA invitation on Tuesday. This second year at Oshkosh saw double the quantity of guests of last year, an estimated 400 took advantage of this air conditioned venue, resting the feet and filling up with refreshments and food. Abundant door prizes were provided by AIG, Magnes and COPA.
All had a memorable time, meeting up out of the sun, talking about all the new products offered by the hundreds of vendors and sharing stories of all sort of theirs flying adventure.
Below left is COPA President Bernard Gervais with Jeff Lewis at the microphone explaining why he purchased on the spot his Lifetime COPA membership and encouraging other COPA members to support COPA and do the same.
Below right working hard with a smile at the registration table are Belinda Bryce and Valentina Bitar from the Magnes Group.

By Patrick Gilligan
COPA National will be highlighting the efforts of COPA Flights that have a real authentic passion, exhibit pride and enthusiasm towards COPA National by promoting their association with COPA National in a conspicuous way on their website. The third of the series is all about Proud British Columbia COPA Flights. The first was on Ontario COPA Flights, because I was inspired to start this endeavor by one COPA Flight in Ontario. Get inspired, their creativity is amazing! Also see the Proud Prairies & NWT COPA Flights websites.
I hope to capture all the COPA Flights if I forgot any, please do not hesitate to send me your link at COPAFlights@copanational.org or update your COPA Flight status online by clicking here.

"This is a historic moment for the humankind," UN Secretary Ban Ki-Moon said to the pioneer and pilot Bertrand Piccard during an Internet videoconference, few hours before the arrival of the airplane Solar Impulse in Abu Dhabi. "This landing is the start of what will come next" answered Piccard. On July 26, this unique aircraft completed a 40,000 km, round-the-world journey propelled only by the energy of sun.

FLYING
According to author John Zimmerman: As a kid, I always assumed there was some process by which you formally transitioned into adulthood, perhaps earning a badge that certified you had the knowledge to handle any situation life could throw at you. Grown-ups just seemed so different. Then I had kids of my own and realized everyone is faking it — there is no light-switch moment. Instead, you slowly evolve until one day you admit, "I'm one of the grown-ups now."

Textron introduced a mockup of its all-new Cessna single-engine turbroprop today at EAA AirVenture, and also announced that the model has been named "Denali." The name captures the new airplane's "rugged, yet refined" qualities, the company said. "The Denali will balance great handling characteristics with the enhanced capability of a high performance turboprop, making it a great step-up airplane for piston owners who are ready for more performance," said Kriya Shortt, Textron's vice president of marketing.

FLYING
According to author Pia Bergqvist: I could smell the pine trees below as I turned base and the nose of the little taildragger I was piloting pointed toward a sheer rock wall. When I turned final, the runway was still invisible. It was at the end of a narrow gorge that followed down the mountainside.
Tracking that line, I continued my descent, skimming the treetops of the dense forest.

Air & Space Magazine
In her 1917 patent application, Mary "Mitty" Taylor Brush claimed that with her invention she was "able to produce a machine which is practically invisible when in the air." Mitty and her husband, renowned artist George de Forest Brush, believed they could use ideas developed in paintings to create camouflage for aircraft. George first developed a skill for these techniques from his friend Abbott Thayer, a painter who had tried to get the U.S. Navy to adopt his ideas for concealing ships during the Spanish-American War.
