Local air cadets were flying high during a two-day aviation program at the Brantford Municipal Airport on Tuesday and Wednesday.
About 28 members of the 104 Starfighter Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron aged 12 to 18 had an opportunity to get up close and personal with aircraft and pilots while camping out on the grounds of the airport.
The program was a joint effort of the 104 Starfighter Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron, the Brantford Flying Club, the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association (COPA) and businesses like Brant Aero, Solarship and Gilbert Custom Aircraft that operate at the airport.

It was pretty easy for diners to notice they were in the company of pilots at the recent "Fly-in" breakfast at British Colubmia's Oliver Municipal Airport.
"It's all about throttle position," one aviator could be heard saying.
"What have ya got for a headset?" asked another.
"Things sure have changed up there since I..."
Volunteers from the airport spent three hours feeding dozens of hungry customers at the annual celebration when local residents are invited to join the broader flying community for a traditional breakfast with pancakes, bacon and eggs.

The plane is now sitting in storage while the town figures out how to go about fixing the decades-old aircraft, said Gimli Mayor Randy Woroniuk.
"It's a piece of our aeronautical history here," said Woroniuk.

Flying with former NASA test pilot Einar Enevoldson, the pair hit an absolute altitude of 15,460 m while flying in mountain wave above the Andes in Argentina.
The flight was the successful culmination of the Perlan Project, which had been set up by Fossett and Enevoldson in 1999.

The aircraft has always intrigued aviation fans. But after a 2009 National Geographic Channel special aired, touting the Horten Ho 229 V3 flying wing's "stealthy" characteristics and claiming it was stored in "a secret government warehouse," Internet forums went wild.
The "secret" warehouse was simply the National Air and Space Museum's storage facility in Suitland, Maryland. The U.S. Army Air Forces had captured the flying wing prototype — along with hundreds of other German aircraft — near the end of World War II.
