Air Canada and Transat mutually agree to call off deal

Air Canada and Transat A.T. Inc. recently announced that they have mutually agreed to terminate the Arrangement Agreement for the proposed acquisition of Transat by Air Canada.
Air Canada and Transat had originally agreed in June 2019 on the acquisition, the terms of which were subsequently amended in August 2019 and then revised in October 2020 as a result of the severe economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The updated guidance says that fully vaccinated tourists will no longer be required to get tested before or after travel unless they are required to by the destination.
The travel industry welcomed the news.

NCLH submits plan to CDC to restart cruising from US ports July 4

In a bold move to resume cruise operations from U.S. ports, Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd. sent a direct letter to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) requesting approval to restart sailing in July.
The company’s three cruise brands — Norwegian Cruise Line, Oceania Cruises and Regent Seven Seas Cruises — would require vaccines of all passengers and crew.

More than two million doses of vaccines are set to arrive in Canada this week as the country scrambles to contain the wildfire spread of more contagious variants of the COVID-19 virus.
That includes the first batch of Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccines — 316,800 doses — to be sent to Canada from the global vaccine-sharing initiative known as the COVAX Facility.
