Air Canada Rouge returns to the skies with flight to Cancun

The departure of Air Canada flight AC1810 from Toronto to Cancun on Monday marked the return of Air Canada Rouge to the skies.
"Air Canada Rouge remains an important part of our overall strategy in rebuilding Air Canada's global network. As leisure traffic resumes, we will progressively add Air Canada Rouge to select North American leisure markets from Eastern Canada," said Mark Galardo, Vice President, Network Planning and Alliances at Air Canada.

Industry reacts to WestJet refund news

WestJet’s announcement last week they would refund for flights cancelled due to COVID was met with criticism within the industry, as travel agents and tour operators scrambled to make sense of the logistics of it. To further complicate matters, most of them heard the news first from TravelPulse Canada and a consumer notification was made in advance of a trade notification.

England goes on month-long lockdown

Just as discussions around creating a ‘travel bubble’ between New York and London were gaining more traction, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced that England will go under lockdown beginning November 5.
The lockdown, a response to the country’s struggles to contain the coronavirus, will last until Dec. 2. Johnson himself contracted the virus earlier this year.

Marriott has security breach fine reduced to £18 million

Marriott International has been fined £18.4 million for a security breach affecting millions of guest records dating back to 2014.
The Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) had originally intended to fine the hotel company £99 million but took into account steps taken since by Marriott, representations from the company and the impact of COVID-19.
