The CS Teacher Landscape: Results from a Nationwide Teacher Survey
CSTA
While the technology sector remains one of the fastest growing industries across the nation and continues to rapidly permeate all facets of society, the next generation of the computing workforce must be equipped with the skills to examine how current systems exacerbate inequities and to develop new, more equitable innovations. To enable this shift, current computer science instruction will need to develop students’ computing identities, computational thinking, and ethical reasoning.

Addressing the Shortcomings of Internet Accessibility
CSTA
There was a time when I, like many other educators, dreamed of students each having access to a computer. I can remember the first time my school got a laptop cart. The thrill of being able to work with wireless connectivity on maybe one or two lessons a month. I was always writing small grants, doing fundraisers, and hoping that one day we might be able to achieve the dream of a 1:1 reality. Oddly enough it was not any of my efforts that made this dream happen, but rather a deadly global pandemic. We all know that by March of 2020 education was now being relegated to the virtual world. As I write these words children are still working online, hybridly, or in-person with devices of their district’s issuing. Americans are now facing a new reality, internet inequality.

Can early adoption of esports help students learn to cope with stress?
EdTech Magazine
Esports provides a socially distant, collaborative and competitive opportunity for students in any learning environment. These games may also provide a benefit to students beyond safe social interaction with their peers. Students who participate in esports clubs may learn skills to cope with stressors, especially if they practice those skills from a young age.

Virus, technology, unrest make stressful year for teachers
The Associated Press
The school bell rings, and about a dozen masked first-graders turn to the monitor and wave hello to their classmates — each a tiny Zoom square representing the other half of the class. The teacher — standing behind a plexiglass wall — shares her screen, grabs a pointer, juggles a laptop, projector, marker and board and embarks on another act of her one-woman show.
