Coding instruction should follow educational principles
eSchool News
A programming language is math. It's a system for writing human logic in a way that a computer can work with. A computer program is a list of instructions written using the programming language's mathematical system. When a computer runs a program, it's called software. Because computer software is so important these days, it's vital that we teach our kids to code.

Educational intervention enhances student learning

10 essential reads for burned-out teachers
eSchool News

Here's how we can make difficult pandemic parent-teacher conferences better
The Hechinger Report
Parent-teacher conferences have always been important, perhaps never more so than now, with many schools across the country closed to in-person teaching since last spring. Some students have only had access to class instruction through Zoom, an experiment that everyone hopes against reason will minimally impact children's learning and development, but an experiment, nonetheless.

Schools are deciding what the new CDC mask guidelines mean for the classroom
NPR
This week has brought a few dizzying updates to the year-long school-reopening story. In a surprise move, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention changed its COVID-19 safety guidance, telling people who have been fully vaccinated that, with some exceptions, they can now gather indoors as well as outside without face masks or social distancing. The announcement came just one day after the CDC also gave the green light for children ages 12 to 15 to begin receiving the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
