In this post, we are going to break down the PTD behavior, "Community Building." We have invited our friend and colleague, Dylan Portelance, to share a research project centered on supporting students’ listening and speaking skills through project creation and sharing, with the goal of building a supportive learning community.

Stephanie Oster, a contributor for District Administration Magazine, writes: "As a middle school science teacher, I'm always looking for ways to make life science and biology more fun, engaging, and interesting for my students. Even though I don't have a background in computer science, I've been able to integrate computer coding into our science curriculum. I learned about the CoderZ League through its related curriculum. Yet now more than ever, it's important that colleagues work together to share strategies for instruction and engagement — and energize each other. We need engaging approaches that support collaboration and build morale, not to mention break down the silos that distance learning can create.

Not having a voice in reopening plans. Choosing between your children and your students. Teaching students online and in person at the same time. Working twice as hard without a pay increase. For many, this is teaching in 2020. And yes, writing "teachers can virtually do anything" with icing and putting it on a cake in the teacher's lounge is nice.
