With new sexual harassment cases unrolling daily — from NBC's Matt Lauer to U.S. Senator Al Franken — it may be hard for employers to understand their responsibilities regarding sex in the workplace. But there is more urgency than ever. Here is a start: Because openness is often an issue in sexual harassment cases, employers cannot afford to foster or tolerate an unprofessional workplace culture in which sexual behavior is common.

Hallucinogen-persisting perception disorder, or HPPD, causes a person to keep reliving the visual element of an experience caused by hallucinogenic drugs. A person with HPPD has frequent visual disturbances. They do not relive any other aspects of a drug trip, only the part that involved vision. The way the flashbacks in HPPD affect a person's vision can be frustrating and may cause anxiety.

Personnel Today
We live in a world where there is one serious health condition that attracts more criticism than sympathy, where a level of stigma is considered acceptable – obesity.
In the workplace we need to be careful. It’s clearly not the job of employers to make judgements or pass comment on the size and weight of employees – especially when work can often play a major part in influencing eating and exercise habits.

National Safety Council
According to the National Safety Council, more than 7 in 10 employers are directly impacted by prescription drug misuse by their workforce. Nearly half (48 percent) identified a negative business impact such as missed work, lower productivity and increased near-misses and occupational injuries. To help employees become aware of the risks of taking opioids, NSC is offering all U.S. employers “Opioids: Warn Me” self-stick labels at no charge. Labels are sized to fit on insurance and prescription cards without covering up important information. These labels let medical professionals know that employees and their covered family members want to discuss the risks of prescribed opioids and whether there are safer, effective alternatives. The labels can be ordered in sheets of 95, shipped free of charge within the U.S. With new insurance cards arriving soon, have these labels available for employees and their families. Get yours at nsc.org/takeaction.

These findings, which could lead to the development of new imaging-based diagnostic markers, are described in an article published in Brain Connectivity.

Not to women. It’s just guy culture: insensitive, abusive, privileged, misogynistic.

University of Buffalo via The Medical News
Though high levels of neuroticism put people at risk for depression and anxiety, if those same individuals are also highly extraverted and conscientious they could have a measure of protection against those disorders, according to the results of a new study by a team of University at Buffalo psychologists. The findings, published in the Journal of Research in Personality, point to the importance of stepping away from focusing on single personality traits in clinical settings in favor of looking at how combinations of traits might work together to help either prevent or predict specific symptoms.
