"In the rural areas and places where we have a lot of agriculture, that's where we see the labor trafficking," said Pam Marsh, U.S. attorney for the Northern District of Florida. "Often on the coast where we have large resorts and our beautiful beaches, that's where we see labor trafficking in hotels and also sex trafficking. We also see a lot of sex trafficking around big events — like Super Bowls — professional sports events."

Legislation to protect Florida's children from sexually violent predators passes 1st Senate committees

"The most limited government has the responsibility to protect its most vulnerable citizens. That is why the Senate is uniting to make Florida 'scorched earth' for sexually violent predators," said Senate President Don Gaetz, R-Niceville. "We can do more to prevent acts of violent sexual aggression. We can do more to advocate and care for victims. We can do more to investigate, prosecute and punish these vicious criminals. We can do more to keep them far away from our children. Passing this bipartisan legislation is a moral imperative."

Pension reform talk is back for 2014 session

House Speaker Will Weatherford said in an interview he plans to work with the Senate to make this year's effort more palatable to those who opposed it last year. Weatherford stressed that lawmakers have no plans to alter benefits for current employees or retirees.
