Homeland Security Center in Palm Beach County constantly vigilant, analyzing potential threats

In the midst of an alleged plot to attack the nation's capitol, specially trained analysts are tracking and investigating threats in Palm Beach County. … "If that threat to South Florida is going to happen, we will know instantaneously about that threat. We would be able to get that information out to the other agencies and make our deployment from there," said Palm Beach County Sheriff Ric Bradshaw.

Legislature looking to move on medical marijuana, says Bradenton representative

Sheriff Brad Steube, treasurer of the Board of Directors for the Florida Sheriffs Association, advocated for a legislative approach to medical marijuana even before Amendment 2's close defeat. Police: Mall response was 'textbook' operation

Brevard Sheriff Wayne Ivey said that training and experience from other agencies shows that in such cases, citizens who find themselves confined in a building or an area with a shooter, like the dozens of shoppers and workers in the mall when the shooting happened, often have three options.
