Deputy Robert Lundy of the Taylor County Sheriff's Department continues to recover at Shands Hospital in Gainesville, after undergoing several surgeries. Lundy has been hailed a hero, after he intervened in a shooting at a Perry car dealership on Feb. 5.

Florida legislators to pass sexual predator laws

"Detectives and police officers work around people who commit sex offenses routinely, so they're able to identify patterns or potential problems," said Det. Ruth Chapman of the Duval County Sheriff's Office. "A state attorney being armed with that knowledge, it's going to be beneficial in being able to single out who's more in need of being civilly committed and not having anybody slip through the cracks."

Seminole Sheriff's Office releases PSA warning teens of synthetic drugs

11 arrested in drug ring suspected of making, selling synthetic narcotics

According to a St. Johns County Sheriff's Office press release, more than 80 officers served the warrants recently. The officers who were from several state and local agencies took to the streets of Flagler and St. Johns Counties.

The Volusia County Sheriff's Office will be one of hundreds of law enforcement agencies in Florida that will ticket people not wearing seat belts through March 15, a sheriff's spokesman said. The Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that fatalities are up nationwide for the first time in five years.
