Sheriff aims to decrease violent crimes near Orange Blossom Trail neighborhood

Orange County Sheriff Jerry Demings said since the initiative began deputies have arrested 61 people in the two-block area on drug and firearm charges and outstanding warrants. He said a lot of the violence was traced back to two rival groups fighting over the area because of drugs.

First responders given strong appreciation at tribute ceremony

The sheriff's office "continues to investigate a significant number of deaths related to suspected accidental drug overdoses," a recent Facebook update from the agency stated. "Many of the deaths appear to be the result of combining drugs such as heroin, cocaine and prescription medications."
