Walton County cracks down on underage drinking for spring break

Many major schools are on spring break, and the Florida Panhandle's white sand beaches draw thousands to the Emerald Coast every year. Lt. Keith Chamblee said, "We noticed that the Notice to Appears trended up from 2012-2013, so it didn't appear like they were working like we wanted them to. So now we're going to physical arrests."

The Santa Rosa County Sheriff's Office Detention Facility just completed a lengthy process of implementing a new national standard and completed it with success. This is the first incarceration facility in the state of Florida and only the second in the United States to receive this certification.

Collier County Sheriff's Office releases new 'ghost' cruisers

The subtle markings help deputies observe driving patterns without being noticed. The result will be an increased ability to catch aggressive drivers, speeders and impaired drivers. "We want to be up front about the fact that we are using these vehicles," Lt. Mike Dolan said. "The goal is for drivers to employ safe driving practices whether they see us or whether they don't."
