Manatee County deputy shot in Bradenton, suspect dead

The sheriff's office said Lt. Bob Mealy, 52, was shot in the right arm. A witness told the Bradenton Herald he heard the gunshots as he sat in his car outside a nearby McDonald's. He was treated and released from a local hospital, and is expected to recover fully from his injuries.
