The 2016 legislative session may have started almost 50 days earlier than normal, but session remained busy and productive for Florida’s sheriffs. A total of 1,814 bills were filed and 279 (15.4 percent) passed during the 2016 legislative session. All three of the Florida Sheriffs Association’s top legislative priorities passed and sheriffs were once again successful in advocating against numerous bills that would have negatively impacted public safety.

Pinellas County Sheriff's Office in Florida is using enhanced weapons in its battle against electronic crimes. Sheriff Bob Gualtieri introduced the Tampa Bay Electronics Crime Task Force and unveiled its computer forensics lab at a press conference recntly at the sheriff's administration building in Largo. "There is no question that we live in an era of technology and technology drives our daily lives," Gualtieri said.
